Sloppy Streets

I got out for 6.5 miles tonight, but it was slow because of so much snow left on the streets from last night. We are looking at t-shirt designs for this year's Endurance Challenge. They should be simple, but pretty cool. I will post a pic when I have a finished design. Hoping that the streets are clear of so much loose, sandy snow soon.

Mr. Parry's Endurance Challenge Kick-off

We announced the Endurance Challenge on Thursday during an assembly at the middle school. We also began a contest, where SMS students can guess how many miles I will cover over the 24 hours. As of tonight, 54 have signed up!

Got out for 5 miles tonight while Jack was in religion class. I love the feeling of running in the snow, but hate the cold that comes with it. I am announcing the 2010 Mr. Parry's Endurance Challenge tomorrow afternoon during an assembly at tge middle school.

Big Words

So last night my little girl says "I know what perseverence means Daddy. It means never giving up".
I hope she never forgets it!

Endurance Challenge 2010

So we are in the initial stages of planning the 2010 Endurance Challenge. Potential dates include Th-Fri, April 29-30 or Sat-Sun, May 1-2. Still trying to decide which option will encourage the most people to participate.

Photo taken just after the finish last year, having just ran 96 miles.

The challenge itself last year was pretty simple. I challenged the students at Stewartville Middle School - I went to school there and currently teach 6th grade there - to exercise for a total of 24 hours over a 10 week period. In return, I ran/walked a 4 mile loop around Stewartville for 24 hours from 8:30am May 7th - 8:30 am May 8th. This years challenge will likely be very similar.

Coming in for the finish with a 2 squad car escort for the final 1 1/2 miles.

Week of September 28-October 4

I turn 39 this Thursday. Although age has never been a big deal to me, this does mean that I am only 1 year away from 40. I do have some things that I would like to accomplish before then. For instance, I would like to run atleast 100 miles in 24 hours.

Root River Trail Ultra

I'm thinking of organizing an ultra on the Root River State Trail this Sept. No fees, no aid stations, no awards, just a great run on a beautiful trail. More info to follow.

FANS

I will be running in the FANS 12 hour run this weekend, hoping to get in 100k during those hours. This will be my 3rd long run in the last 4 weeks, the first being my 24 hour challenge and then the Med City Marathon.
